RRB NTPC Selection Criteria

The RRB NTPC selection criteria is a multi-stage process that includes the following steps:

  1. Computer Based Test (CBT) 1: This is a common test for all candidates, irrespective of the post applied for. CBT 1 consists of 100 questions, divided into three sections: Mathematics, Reasoning, and General Awareness. Each section has 33 questions. The time duration for CBT 1 is 90 minutes.
  2. CBT 2: Candidates who qualify in CBT 1 are eligible to appear for CBT 2. CBT 2 is a subject-specific test and the syllabus varies depending on the post applied for. CBT 2 consists of 120 questions, divided into four sections: Mathematics, Reasoning, General Awareness, and Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) for certain posts. The time duration for CBT 2 is 120 minutes.
  3. CBTST: Candidates who qualify in CBT 2 for certain posts are eligible to appear for the CBTST (Computer Based Typing Skill Test). The CBTST is a qualifying test and candidates must score at least 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi on a personal computer without editing tools and spell check facility.
  4. Document Verification: Candidates who qualify in all the above stages are called for document verification. During document verification, candidates will have to submit all the original documents as mentioned in the notification.
  5. Medical Examination: Candidates who clear the document verification are called for a medical examination. The medical examination will be conducted by a panel of doctors appointed by the RRB.

The final selection of candidates is based on their performance in the CBT 1, CBT 2, CBTST (where applicable), and the medical examination.
